I hate rice
I've decided to throw my hat into the ring with what might be one of the most unpopular food opinions, especially considering the global popularity of this food item. I know most people adore it, and I may be ostracized for this, but I have to speak my truth - I absolutely hate eating rice.
I've tried it in every conceivable way - boiled, steamed, fried, even as an ingredient in desserts like rice pudding. It doesn’t matter if it’s white, brown, wild, or jasmine, I just can't grow to love it, or even mildly enjoy it.
While for others it's a source of comfort food or an essential side dish, for me it's just a mound of tiny bland pellets that require hours of seasoning just to taste like anything other than what I imagine eating clouds would be like. And don't get me started on its texture - soft, yet somehow grainy at the same time. A paradox I don't enjoy.
This has unfortunately led to me missing on countless dishes- whether it's sushi, risotto or paella, my distaste for rice has me choosing alternatives or simply ignoring these delicacies all together. Yes, this means I’m the one ordering a burrito bowl with extra beans, hold the rice please. It certainly has made for some interesting conversations with servers in various restaurants, I assure you that.
And I get it, rice is a staple for more than half of the world's population. I understand its importance in many cultures cuisines and nutrition. I am by no means suggesting that others shouldn't eat it, I just personally don't enjoy it.

I like basamati rice (of course only when it's cooked properly), but hate every other type of rice.
Rice is very hard to cook properly. A lot of people tend to either make it too mushy, or too grainy.
