If they are stuck on the ocean floor, remember that it took 73 years for the titanic to be found. And that was a big ass ocean liner.

It took 73 years for our technology to locate the Titanic because there was no previous reference point (searching for a needle in a haystack)

The ocean gate debris field was easier to find because the Titanic was a reference point they could search around.
