We are sorry about that. Nobody from the team has ever been to the US, so we didn't know about Klans or the KKK until after we started marketing it internationally. We have pushed an update fixing the change and it's sent out to all phones.
I’m enjoying the app. I really like that the team is not USA based. I’m hopeful that will draw in more international content.
But, honestly, I’m having a hard time getting past the “Clan/Klan” terminology. I know it wasn’t intentional. I know the fix is on the way. I just don’t want to “join a clan.” I know I’m being picky and that the word “Clan” has different connotations all over the world. But this is like if someone named a new chocolate cake “poop” and asked me to “eat poop.” I know it’s a delicious cake, but that’s a hard sell.
Clans was a word we thought of when building the app in late 2021. Community was too long and didn't look good with the UI. We settled on the term Klan because it was an alternate spelling and no other app was using it. International marketing made us aware of it and now we regret choosing that name.
No harm, no foul. You can't be expected to know everything. Sounds like the team had a quick turn around on responding to the new information though, which is great!
